Today Sucks

In nine years of working at the juvenile court, I have not had a any kid lay their hands on me. I’ve had kids stand in my face, threaten me (with an imaginary gun) and try to scare me. Today, however, I had a kid grab me after cursing at me. It was not really an attempt at violence the kid, “just wanted to keep talking.”

I don’t keep talking when a kid needs constant redirection. I don’t keep talking when a kid is swearing and cursing at me–and then refuses to apologize or take responsibility for his actions.

The problem is, this goes in the report. The kid is pretty damn close to being sent to the Department of Corrections. This is what can send him there.

I don’t feel bad at all.
