I have a twitter account–I don’t use it much.
I’ve seen references to tumblr–I have no idea what it is.
I’m about a step and a half behind the cool kids. So, cool kids, tell about these (and other new) services. What’s the point of using them?

I dunno what tumblr is, but twitter and plurk are “miniblogging” sites. They’re little snippets and are quite fun and sometimes very addicting.
Twitter right now has had some service issues due to overload, but you can use a client like Twhirl so you don’t have to have it open in a browser – which is its advantage over something like Plurk.
As with any social networking thing, the more people you know that have twitter or plurk accounts, the more fun either service will be. I’m on both as “justanna”, and have found them to be amusing and fun, and a good way to publicize my WoW Blog. Other than just general social-ness though, they’re not overly useful. Just another mildly entertaining waste of time 🙂
This is what tweeter is for.
They are tiny cat vacuums, Marty. That’s all you need to know.
