So Jen of Saying Yeshad this to say:
Are we bringing our pearls to the table or are we spreading out the twisted, contorted parts that we feel we can’t show polite society? Do our true selves show up or our alter egos for better or worse? Maybe while heading out on our journey of expression and discovery, we discover that what is oh so sweet is not out here, but is right in our backyard.
While she was discussing how blogging has become a chore lately. I couldn’t agree more. I started blogging as a distraction/grief exercise (even if I didn’t admit to it at the time). It has morphed and changed into half a dozen different things, including Ask a Bastard and Sunday Morning Crazy–two things that are squarely in the “Chore” category.
I’d like to think that I could use blogging to help me with grad school apps–to use that journey of self discovery to help me write a killer statement–but in truth I’ve used it to avoid things. Now avoiding things has become a blog-based-chore.
Granted, Jen’s posted an update today that I haven’t read. I’m still stuck on “blogging as chore” idea.

Today is my dad’s birthday. I have a picture I want to share with everyone–but I have to scan it. Hopefully, I will be sharing it soon.
Have a good weekend!

I apologize for not having Ask A Bastard done as well as a three week dry spell on Sunday Morning Crazy. I know I’m phoning the blog in lately. I have reasons, but they’re kind of irrelevant. What matter’s is I’m working on getting back on track as soon as I can.
I’m writing on something else. Not on my reduced-meat diet (not just because of Shannon), my reduced WoW time (honestly, it is reduced. People may not think it is, but I can cite evidence proving my point) or my dad’s upcoming birthday (he would have been 63). I’m writing to announce that we, as a nation, are doing it wrong.

By it I mean the way we take care of each other and administrate our society. Take for instance my lovely city. Chicago recently experienced a significant upswing in violence. Our response is going to be SWAT teams on the street.
I honestly do not think that this will solve the problem.
I don’t really know what will fix the problem at hand; although, a few bloggers feel that MORE GUNS and getting rid of DUE PROCESS is obviously the answer. I’m hesitant to link the blog I’m referencing because its violent and crazier than the creationist blog I linked earlier–and this guy likes to brag about violence. I don’t want to pick a fight with a gun with a gun. Bullets mean I lose. However, I’ve linked the google search I used to find it, so feel free to peruse it. If he finds his way out here, I’ll deal with it then.
While I’m not sure how to stop the violence, I think blaming Liberals (or the new cobag term “liberal fascism”) is asinine. We’ve had over four years of a conservative majority in the government–things are worse now than when Clinton left—and yet Liberals’ get the blame?
I have an unrelated anecdote and rant after the break. Enjoy!

Prince wrote it. Cyndi covered it. Tonight, Shannon and I will probably dance to it. Tonight is 80’s prom, and I feel like I am dressed like a black-hearted ad-exec villain from a b-lsit movie.
My fancy camera has a busted lens–but fear not. Shannon has TWO Cameras and I have my iPhone. I’ll show you lot what I mean tomorrow.

Hey! Seems the Holy Father talked to five specially chosen victims of clergy sex abuse. THE SCANDAL IS OVER!
Give me a break. This does not even come close to addressing the issue. If the Pope wants to make a real difference, then he should, on behalf of the church, ask for forgiveness.

So VON was almost hit by an entitled downtown driver. Her response is as follows: This just in:
“I’m sorry BUT….” at this point, I get pissed and scream at her “NO! No I’m sorry but! Either say ‘I’m sorry I damn near hit you with my car two seconds ago’ or say ‘I’m not sorry’ but do NOT say ‘I’m sorry but’!!!”
This is my dream. I want to have a near accident while walking (that is not my fault) so I can slam my fists on the person’s car and same something like this. Kudos to VON for doing something I’ve always wanted to do.

I’ve been thinking a lot about feminism thanks to posts by Shannon, Res, AG and a new blog I read, Shakespeare’s Sister. At best, I’ve been intellectually lazy about women’s rights lately. I am hesitant to think about what I’ve become at worst. Regardless, I just had this thought:
I want Obama to be the candidate because he is the best candidate. I really don’t want him to get the nomination because people don’t want to elect a woman.
I obviously have a lot of thinking left to do on the matter. It is not an easy discussion to have either; however, it is something I need to do.
What I can say is this: Regardless of who gets the democratic nomination, I am voting Democratic. Like Dean, I’m from the Democratic wing of the Democratic part, and this year I am going to follow through with it.
edit: Credit where Credit is due.
